What will I require in order to purchase my new spectacles from

You will need to obtain a prescription from your optician. Your prescription must be within two years old (or 1 year if you are over 70, or suffer from diabetes or glaucoma or have a relative with glaucoma).

How do I obtain my prescription if I don’t have one?

You can ask your optician to provide you with your latest prescription. They are required by law to do so. If you do not have one within the recommended time limits then you will need to undergo an eye examination first.

I can’t read the figures on my prescription! What do I do now?

Simply fax your copy over to us and we’ll do the rest for you!

Which option do I choose? Reading, intermediate or distance?

If its for close reading tasks then choose reading. Intermediate is for VDU/Music/Arms length and distance is for everything else. If you have different values for your reading prescription than your distance, then enter the value of your chosen lens. If you have just one figure for the reading box when the distance box has figures entered for CYL and AXIS then input this value in the ADD box of the online form.

Can I use my contact lens prescription to order glasses?

No. the prescription for your contact lenses differ to that of normal lenses. So ordering spectacles to this prescription would be incorrect.

What is my PD measurement? How do I obtain this?

Your pupillary distance is the distance in millimetres between the centre of your pupils. Have a read on our website which explains step-by-step how to obtain this.

What is the maximum prescription that you offer?

We can provide a maximum of (+) or (-) 8 SPH and (+) or (-) CYL. For Near (ADD) Values for Bifocals and Varifocals, we only supply for values between +0.75 and +3.50 Diopters.

What materials are used for making your frames?

Most of our frames tend to be made from either nickel based metals or plastic. Some of our designer frames are also made from allergy free titanium or stainless steel. Nose pads are either plastic or silicone.

What materials are used to make your lenses?
Most of our standard lenses are made from CR39 1.523 index plastic manufactured to British Standards. We offer high index lenses which are compressed plastic surfaced lenses in indexes of 1.6, 1.67 and 1.74. We also offer Polycarbonate lenses which are a 1.59 index for our safety spectacles and rimless models.
Do you sell prescription sunglasses?

Yes. Simply tell us the prescription you require in the frame of your choice (this may exclude some designer frames). You can also choose the colour of your tint and how dark you want it! It's as simple as that!

What type of bifocals do you supply?

We supply D28 Bifocals as our standard lens. However we are able to offer D35, Executive, Round 24 and Round 28 Bifocals also. Please feel free to browse our website for further information on ordering bifocals.

What type of Varifocals do you supply?

We offer three ranges of Varifocals; Standard, Wide and Superwide Varifocals. The Wide and Superwide lenses have substantially wider middle and near focusing areas for viewing a PC/Music or Reading. All Varifocals can be made in thinner materials and in Transitions material also. Your PD measurement will also be required.

Is the transition option available with all lenses?

Transitions are compatible with mostly all lenses. We use transition V which are the quickest photochromic lenses on the market currently available. They cannot be supplied above 1.67 index (Ultrathin) materials in Single Vision and Varifocals and above 1.56 index (Thin) material in Bifocals.
